Description: Centre front nodule called ‘boss’ and carved handle on reverse. Front surface decorated with yellow; off white and black ochre. Reverse surface is unpainted. Rough carved surface. 2 areas of resin/sap on the surface (front). Reverse surface appears to have been varnished pos ? estapolled. Munsell Colours: FRONT: 10YR6/4 – Light yellowish brown, 10YR7/1 – Light grey, 10R4/4 – Weak red, 5YR2.5/1 – Black.
As a Queensland Government Meteorologist from 1887 to 1903 Clement Lindley Wragge had many opportunities to collect Aboriginal artefacts (Barnard 2013).
